Last Chance Ever to See The Purple Effect
Terry Christian once wrote, “Were they from LA, and not the badlands of Bury, they'd be massive”. That is the impact of The Purple Effect, a staunchly rock band formed in 1987 amidst the Madchester and Baggy scene, who had a powerful local following. Now they are back, for one last gig, at The Met in Bury on May 23.
The guys, Dave Naylor, Aidan Towers, Liam Cuffey and Carl Sharrocks last played together in 1993 in East Berlin where they were smuggled through Checkpoint Charlie in a covered wagon to play what was to be their final concert. Coming together after 16 years they will be recreating the set from the Berlin performance.
The Met show will be supported by Dylan Roach with warm up by The Dirty Raincoats – more exclusive final performances by 1990’s heroes. Tickets: £8 in advance or £10 on the door are available from the Met box office or online: www.themet.biz/event/the_purple_effect/thepu1243103400/
